FOR ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS TRADE · ELECTRICIANS

Job records, test results and compliance certificates that stay findable for electrical contractors.

Built for electrical businesses with 4 to 19 staff whose site history, asset registers and test-and-tag dates live in a spreadsheet that breaks when one person is away, and whose certificates take an afternoon to find. Fixed-price builds in ten business days.

  • Full deposit back if I miss the spec
  • Your data stays yours · one bill, not three

WHERE THE RECORDS BREAK DOWN

Five places a sparky shop usually loses the paper trail.

Every electrical contractor I audit shows the same five bleeds, in different proportions. The first two are about proof: what you tested, and what you can show a year later. The audit tells us which one is dominant in yours.

01MAINTENANCE

Commercial maintenance lives in a spreadsheet

Body corporate, real estate, insurance restoration, government contracts. The work is recurring, the records are scattered. Site history, asset registers, certificates, test-and-tag dates, defect liability periods. Most of it lives in someone's head or a spreadsheet that breaks if Sharon's away.

02CERTIFICATES

The certificate exists, but nobody can find it

Certificates of electrical safety, test results, thermal scans, test-and-tag records. Issued, photographed, emailed, filed somewhere. When the builder, the insurer or the auditor asks for the one from last March, someone loses an afternoon to it, and occasionally you re-do the test rather than argue about it.

03PROOF OF WORK

The photos are on a phone that left with the apprentice

The proof that the work was done properly, the before shots, the board photo, the completed SWMS, sits on whatever handset happened to be on site. When someone disputes what was done, whoever has the tidier file wins. Right now that is rarely you.

04PROFIT

Job profit shows up at month-end

Three days into a $10,000 fit-out, with subbies and the team coming and going and a third trip to the supplier already on the slip, the honest answer to "are we still making money" is "I'm not sure". The number lands when the bookkeeper closes the month. By then the loss is locked in.

05QUOTES

Quote intake is incomplete

The enquiry comes in by phone while you're up a ladder. Job details land later, in fragments. Quote gets finished Sunday night with assumptions baked in. Commercial leads with no spec, residential leads with no photos, EV charger jobs with no site detail.

WHAT I'D BUILD

Five fixed packages, mapped to the bleed.

Same five Bolt On Ops packages every trade gets. This is the electrical-specific map.

Every fix below sits on top of the software you already run. Nothing gets ripped out.

NOT A SOFTWARE MIGRATION

Keep the tools you already use. I build the missing workflow around them.

Your current software nearly works. The bits that don't are where the spreadsheet, the text-message thread, and the Sunday admin live. I build the missing piece, integrate it cleanly, and leave the rest of your setup alone.

SERVICEM8 · TRADIFY

Already on ServiceM8 or Tradify?

Job flow works for residential service jobs but commercial maintenance falls through. I build the client portal, certificate repository, and recurring-job logic that sits on top. Your jobs still live in ServiceM8 or Tradify. The structured workflow lives in the bolt-on.

BOLT-ON ON TOP
SIMPRO · AROFLO

Already on Simpro or AroFlo?

Powerful platforms, but the renewal letter at 8% CPI+5% on a 3 to 5 year lock-in has plenty of operators rethinking. If you want out, I'll quote a custom replacement. If you want to stay, I'll build the gaps. One bill, not three.

REPLACE OR FILL THE GAPS
SPREADSHEETS · XERO

Still on spreadsheets and Xero?

Good news, the upgrade path is cleaner than starting from a partial SaaS deployment. Quote Fast Pack or Job Flow Pack drops in without ripping out Xero. Most owners get more out of bolting on than starting over.

Hear the receptionist
that answers your phone.

Talk to the AI receptionist in your browser, like a customer would. It answers, works out the job, flags the urgent ones and captures the lead — 24/7, in your business's name. If it ever can't pick up, the missed-call text-back still fires.

$165/mo inc GST, free on Ops Care Standard and Pro. If it doesn't catch you a job in your first 30 days, you don't pay that month.

WHO BUILDS THIS

Brad Stribley, founder of Bolt On Ops
BRAD STRIBLEY VIC, AU

I'm Brad Stribley. I run Oscar White (commercial cleaning) and Ranges Cleaning Co. (residential). I've quoted before breakfast, chased late payers, managed subbies from the ute, and built tools for my own businesses first.

I don't need you to explain your business to me. I know what a job card is, what a SWMS is, what a defect liability period is, why the quote in your job management software still has to be pasted into Xero at month-end, and why "12 callouts this week" doesn't tell you whether the business is making money.

Electrical contractors carry the sharpest version of the operational pain pattern I build for: quote complexity, compliance docs, recurring commercial maintenance, multi-suburb crew scheduling, and margin visibility on jobs with high labour and material variance. The fixes work. I've built them for my own ventures.

  COMMON QUESTIONS

The questions electrical contractors actually ask.

Do I have to switch off ServiceM8 or Tradify to work with you?

No. If your job app works for you, keep it. I build around it, not over it: the certificate repository, the recurring commercial-maintenance logic, the client portal, the structured EV and solar intake. Your jobs still live in ServiceM8 or Tradify, and the bolt-on hands the data back cleanly.

Can it handle my compliance certificates and the quoting complexity?

Yes, and that's most of why electrical is the first trade I build for. Certificates of electrical safety, test-and-tag dates, defect liability periods, and asset registers get a proper home instead of a spreadsheet that breaks when someone's away. Quoting captures the full spec up front (single vs three-phase, switchboard capacity, rebate codes) so the quote goes out same-day instead of Sunday night.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

Builds start from $1,500 fixed for a smaller build and from $3,500 for a larger one, with the price agreed in writing before anything starts, so no hourly surprises. Timeline depends on scope and what it connects to, and I commit to a delivery date in writing at kickoff rather than quoting a number I can't hold. Most owners run on an Ops Care plan from $750 a month so the fixes keep coming instead of stopping at the first build.

What if I only need one small thing fixed?

That's the whole idea. Each package targets a single bleed, so we start with the one costing you the most (quoting, job flow, profit visibility, admin, or lead capture) and fix just that. Prove it pays, then decide whether there's a second. You're never buying a big platform you didn't ask for.

Do you actually understand how an electrical business runs?

I run two field-service businesses myself, so I know what a job card is, what a SWMS is, why the quote in your job app still gets re-keyed into Xero at month-end, and why '12 callouts this week' doesn't tell you whether you made money. I don't need you to explain your business to me; I've already run one. I build these tools for my own ventures before I sell them to anyone.
